Old China Cafe, KL

There was a good write-up on this café from the viewers on net. Me & my husband make a trip there just to try out their Nyonya Laksa. It is easy to find as the café is a walking distance from Petaling Street. And also there were a big parking space in front the café.

Since Old China Cafe was shortlisted in the Best Malaysian Restaurant category of the Time Out KL Food Awards 2012, we look forward to it.

We reached there 11.16 am thought the café open at 11am but was informed by the staff the café open at 11.30am instead. Hmm, end up my husband, my little boy and me have to wait outside the café till 11.35 am. A bit disappointing with the service rendered in the first place as no one bother to take our order despite we raise and call them few times. We are the first customer to arrive and in no time, the whole café was full with customers. Since the Café just started their business, the serving is rather slow. We waited quite long for our food.

But anyhow we were amaze with the decoration of the café which are Nyonya style with the antique clocks & pictures of Peranakkan Baba hanging on the wall, small little fan on the table makes the whole place look so antique.

My husband ordered the Nyonya Laksa (RM10.90). We liked the taste. The thick gravy is covered with the strong lemongrass taste.

I ordered the Nasi Lemak (RM10.90). This I strongly NOT recommended to try cos  the rice is not well cook and the sambal is too sour. The ikan bilis are also hard to chew.

Perhaps we should try the other dishes next time.
